Day 24

Skirt provided by Youmewe

Hello,

I love this skirt! It twirls, swirls and is just so much fun to wear, and the best part is that you can wear it as a jacket, too. It’s a beautiful construction: one piece of fabric that wraps around me, folds into soft pleats and drapes round either my waist when worn as a skirt or my shoulders when worn as a jacket. Can you beat that? Two outfits for the price of one. There’s even a Youtube video that shows you how to wear it as a skirt or as a jacket.

Now you know how much I love today’s African print, I’ll tell you the fascinating story behind the skirt. It was a gift. Yes, you heard right, Chantel at Youmewe our new sponsor gave me this skirt after I told her about this project. I was nosing around Old Spitalfields market, in East London, yesterday when I noticed her beautiful designs, and between selling to customers and answering questions she folded the skirt, tied it up with a string and handed it to me. Her generosity brought me to tears; I had to ask her a few times before I accepted it was a gift.

Thank you Youmewe for providing today’s African print.
